This early leak surfaced to the general public around January of 2005. Not surprising since the album had already been completed for quite a while at that point. Other than the sound quality, the tracks in the leak are generally identical to what appeared on the official release, with some exceptions. For instance, Scarecrow on the leak is considerably longer than the final version, and Que Onda Guero contains samples that don't appear in the final version.

For Beck, this was the first time a leak of unfinished material surfaced, for which he was "very bummed."
