Beck will perform a special solo acoustic set as part of the benefit for PETRA HADEN at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood on Sunday November 26th. Some of you may remember Petra from that dog, or from the tracks she worked on with Beck (Totally Confused, Girl Dreams, Steve Threw Up). Petra was struck by a car while crossing a street in Venice, CA and sustained several serious injuries. In order to help Petra with medical costs, several benefits are being arranged. Beck will join Foo Fighters, Iron Maiden (!), R.E.M., Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Young, and... Britney Spears at this years ROCK IN RIO. Beck will play on the second day of the 7 day festival, January 13th, 2001.

Beck, Launch, Sonic Foundry, Geffen / Interscope would like to thank each "Mixed Bizness" remix contest entrant for their patience, hard work and creative spirits. It was difficult for Beck to reach a decision among all the excellent remixes that were submitted, so in addition to four winners, there are 16 honorable mentions.
The first place winner is Michael Rosen for "Latin-Shot" Mix (make this a live link) and he will receive ACID Pro, Vegas plus 5 libraries of choice. Beck has worked on two tracks with the band Air for their new in-the-works record. Beck previously remixed "Sexy Boy" off Air's last record, Moon Safari. More info to come soon. Beck has also recorded a voice-over for an appearance on Fox's Futurama show (by Simpsons creator Matt Groening). Airdate coming soon.

Beck will play two special acoustic shows in Los Angeles at the Wilshire theatre, in Beverly Hills on October 24th and 25th. Tix are $22.50 and go onsale Saturday September 23rd at noon through Ticketmaster. There is a 4 ticket limit.
:::::: 09.08.00: Beck Recording with Timbaland ::::::
Beck went into the studio with producer Timbaland (Jay Z, Aaliyah) in September to cut a cover of David Bowie's "Diamond Dogs" for the soundtrack to the movie "Moulin Rouge", which is set for release in December. Beck also laid down vocals for an unspecified track on Tim's solo record (the track also features Aaliyah), more on that later.

Beck will headline San Francisco's Alice Radio 97.3FM's Now and Zen Fest, Sunday September 24th at Sharon Meadow in SF's Golden Gate Park. Other bands playing include the Go-Go's, Travis, Tonic, and Dogstar. Beck will also play both days of Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit concert at Shoreline Ampitheater in San Francisco on October 28th and 29th. Both Bridge School shows will be in the vein of the This Ain't No Picnic show (acoustic material). Tickets for Bridge School go onsale September 24th @ 10am (at ticketmaster outlets), $48 for reserved seating, $38 for lawn. There is a 6 ticket limit.
