Beck filmed his part in 1999/2000 and plays himself when Hanft first met him in the early 90's. "Beck was a dirt poor punk living in a shack recording surreal songs on cassette tapes and just being a tripper" says Hanft, "so we reenacted that part of Beck's life and and fit him into the story that way". Beck also has two musical sequences in the film, which also stars Beth Orton, Rory Cochrane, Ross Harris, Hank Williams III, and Laura Prepon.

:::::: 04.28.02: Beck Cameos at Coachella ::::::

Beck gave Saturdays Coachella show a bit of a surprise when he and JMJ popped onstage at the Mojava Tent for some impromptu jamming, here's JMJ:

"Yeah, we played a few songs. Z-trip did his DJ set, and at the end, he spun "Where It's At", and stopped it after a minute. Then he said, "let's just bring Beck out". Then he rocked some beats while Beck rapped and I played the bassline. It was funny. Then, we played a couple of acoustic songs, "Pay No Mind", "Lonesome Whistle" and "Asshole", then out. It was a fun little interlude. Thankfully the beat-crazy DJ culture didn't throw rocks and bottles at us and we were able to mellow it for a minute. Bjork's set was cool, Queens of the Stoneage were amazing, Vines were good. A nice day out there. Great weather too. See U, JMJ "
